Weeds and Technology

I'm enjoying my time here, even though there is homework. Today I drove over to an old lady's house and did some yard work for her to earn some dollars. I pulled a lot of weeds and snipped some yucca shoots. I took a break from that, went into the AC, and chatted with the lady for a little while. She mentioned she was reading a book about heaven and kept saying she was getting pretty old. I asked her if she knew she was going there, and she told me she really hoped so. She said she heard she was supposed to know for sure, but that she didn't, because she didn't  know if she was good enough. Then she changed the subject.

It all started with my phone. The screen turned fuzzy, than normal, than inverted, backwards, and fuzzy, than normal, now fuzzy, maybe upside down, hopefully normal tomorrow. I dug out the backup phones, the blue one had completely died on me a few years ago. I had even taken it in to see if it was the battery but the phone itself was dead. I just turned it on, and it turned on. It must have self repaired sometime in the last two years. I dug out the beastly motorola next. The battery lasted five seconds when I quit using it a year and a half ago. I just turned it on, the battery was full, I left it all day, came back, and the battery was still full. Now I can't decide which phone to switch too. THEN there was the old desktop. Maxed out at 512 mb of ram. It crashed a few days ago. It had the blue screen, wouldn't load up to windows... I figured no big deal because I had a new ac adapter coming in the mail for my other old laptop. It arrived, I got the old laptop up and working, juiced the ram all the way up to 1 gb, and it ran smooth and fast just long enough for me to get it all set up for Rachelle, and then it burned up, except not with real fire. So I didn't know what to do since Rachelle needs to stay home with Micah some days and watch class streamed over the network, which she needs a computer for. I decided to try to fix the old desktop, plugged it in, and it loaded windows right up. I'm about bizarred out with technology. If I missed any "s's" in this text its because the "s" on my keyboard just started working about one out of every two touches instead of one out of every one touch.

Thinking about all this stuff, I'm realizing what is really important to me and what should be really important to me. It's convicting to think that I care more about my phone and computers than the soul of the lady I got to meet today. I've spent a lot more time thinking about how to solve my phone and computer issues than I've spent thinking about how to share with the lady. It's amazing how many things, even "good" things, can sidetrack us from the most important thing, reaching the lost. Pray that God will change my heart to match his heart more and more each day.
