If I could be like that
I would give anything
just to spend one day
In those shoes...
-3 doors down, be like that
I have a tendency to compare myself with others. Some people actually are funnier than I am, have a more exciting personality than I do, or even have a better beard than mine. I could start getting jealous. Some people have skills I don't have, once again, I could get jealous. Others are gifted in areas that I'm not, and I could again get jealous. I like what Paul said about this:
We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some
who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by
themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are
not wise. - 2 Cor. 10:12
Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or
you will be destroyed by each other. - Gal. 5:26,15
In Christ, we're all on the same team. We could all cheer when a brother leads someone to Christ, or we could become jealous that it wasn't us. But if we choose to become jealous, we miss the point! It's not about us anymore, its about the Body! We don't need to compete with each other because we're all already accepted on the basis of the work of Christ. God's given us all different roles and functions as members of his Body to accomplish his purpose, and each is equally necessary.
